AISES Alcohol PolicyAISES-sponsored events do not support or provide the purchase and serving of alcohol. No alcohol will be provided by AISES or the McGill Students Chapter of AISES. The full AISES code of conduct is available here.
It is important to note that the drinking age in Quebec is 18, much lower than the US drinking age, and drinking culture is extremely prominent. Therefore, McGill Students Chapter of AISES acknowledges that attendees may leave the premises and purchase alcoholic beverages on their own. In line with McGill University’s alcohol policies and to actively prevent dangerous activity, we request that attending student groups inform and bring along their supervisors if they go out or inform a McGill chapter member who can come along and make sure everyone is safe, responsible, and makes it home in the dangerously cold weather. |
Drug use policy |
McGill University residences have a no-judgement policy for drug and alcohol use. The possession of drugs is illegal in Canada and prohibited on campus. However, we encourage attendees to inform a McGill chapter member if they choose to drink or take any drugs on their own time, to limit risks and keep themselves safe. This will help inform first aid and emergency services if necessary.

Smoking |
Smoking cigarettes is not allowed within 9 metres of entrances to buildings on campus or within campus buildings. Hotels and restaurants also follow these same laws and policies. There are also designated non-smoking areas on campus that should be avoided.
